Writing poems that are reversible is an incredible talent. Marilyn Singer's attempt in Mirror, Mirror is quite successful! I've never read anything quite like it. The fact that she writes about familiar fairy tale characters makes the poems even more enjoyable since background knowledge already exists. The colorful illustrations provided by Josée Masse serve to enhance the poems and their reverse meaning when they are penned with lines in opposite order and only changes in punctuation. Young readers will be enchanted and motivated to try their hand at writing this interesting form of poetry themselves.
